John Yen Wong began his real estate career in 1981 and has been both a salesperson in and an owner of real estate companies. In 2003, REALTOR Magazine named John as one of the 25 most influential people in real estate, and he was the Asian Real Estate Association of America’s 2006 “Real Estate Person of the Year.”
John has been the broker-owner of an independent real estate company, a Mason-McDuffie trademark licensed company, and a Prudential Real Estate franchise. He is currently a broker associate in a Better Homes and Garden office in San Francisco.
Throughout his career, John has been active in real estate business organizations. He was the 2004 national President of the Council of Real Estate Broker Managers (CRB) and the 2005 President of the San Francisco Association of Realtors. Also in 2005, John served as the Chairman of Freddie Mac’s Affordable Housing Advisory Council and was a member of Chase Home Finance’s National Housing Advisory Council.
In the emerging markets arena, John is the Founding Chairman of the Asian Real Estate Association of America, which he helped to form in 2003. The organization’s purpose is to
- Be the voice of real estate professionals who serve the Asian American real estate market
- Be a resource for enhancing an understanding of the Asian American real estate market
- Be a steward for the increasing professionalism of practitioners who serve the Asian American Real Estate market
John is a frequent presenter of AREAA education courses throughout the United States. He also leads a course designed to train additional presenters for AREAA courses.
